Counselling for Anxiety, Depression, Stress

The Project is based at The Core, County Way, Barnsley, S70 2JW.  


Our Project Manager is Karen Mitchell.  Our Office Manager is Andrea Smith. Our therapists are Carol Himsworth, Naomi Barrett and Ben Wright.  Our Sessional Worker is Barbara Foot. Our volunteers include Julie Swindle, Peter Begent, Ros Himsworth and Phoebe Thomas and our young volunteers are Miley (17), Megan (17), Alice (12), Phoebe (14), Kelsie (14), Brandon (13), Zara (14), Ellie Mae (16)


We provide a drop in service  on Tuesdays 3.30pm to 4.30pm for new young people ONLY, to come and meet us, pick up some information and register. At 4.30pm we have a social group for young people to meet and keep in touch after they have completed the group sessions, this group now has its own committee and young board members, they help us decide what we need to being to support young people.


On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays we provide group sessions where you will learn techniques to manage your anxiety, stress, anger and depression



We also offer limited 1:1 therapy sessions which include Solution Focused Therapy and counselling.


We have a dedicated email and text messaging service, please see above number.


Parents/carers and Professionals are welcome to the drop-in on Tuesdays at 3.30pm-4.30pm


 If you are interested in finding out about TADS by coming to our drop-in on Tuesdays please come to The Core at 3.30pm which will give you time to find out about our service, ask questions and register, which will take about 30 mins. Unfortunately we have to finish the session at 4.30pm as we have another group session starting straight after. Please be mindful of this as we would like to give parents/carers/young people enough time without pressurising you to leave. Thank you for your understanding

    Hi, I'm really interested in exploring the effectiveness of complementary therapies for the kind of people accessing your project. And am currently running a trial looking at the effectiveness of
    homeopathy and nutritional therapy for ADHD. We're always looking for participants. Might you be able to promote it please?
